A New Year, A New Beginning
Cyniah and Adrian Zuniga welcomed their first baby boy just as the new year began — the sweetest way to step into a brand-new chapter of life. There’s something symbolic about a January baby, a fresh start wrapped in tiny fingers and sleepy smiles. When they reached out to schedule their lifestyle in-home session, their little one was already about four weeks old and settling into his rhythm. That slightly older newborn stage is so beautiful because babies are more alert while still holding onto that fresh, tiny softness. Their home was filled with quiet excitement and the kind of love that only first-time parents understand. Every glance between them carried a mix of awe and gratitude. It was clear this new year wasn’t just a change in date — it was the beginning of their family’s greatest adventure.
Photographing Baby in the Home Dad Grew Up In
One of the most meaningful details of this session was the location itself. We weren’t just photographing a new baby in any house — we were documenting him in the very home where Adrian grew up. There was something incredibly full-circle about capturing a father holding his son in the same space that shaped his own childhood. The walls held memories, and now they get to witness a brand-new generation being raised within them. Cyniah and Adrian had thoughtfully prepared a nursery for their baby boy, creating the perfect setting for soft, intimate portraits. The nursery light poured in gently, highlighting all the tiny details — the crib, the blankets, and the love poured into every corner. It added depth and emotion to the gallery knowing this wasn’t just a house, but a legacy. These are the layers that make in-home sessions so powerful and personal.
On Baby’s Time — Capturing Real-Life Moments
Like most newborn sessions, the day flowed entirely on baby’s schedule. At four weeks old, he knew exactly what he wanted — and nursing with mom was the only way he was truly content. Instead of rushing the process, we embraced it. Those nursing moments became some of the most tender images of the session, quietly documenting the bond between Cyniah and her son. Lifestyle newborn photography is about honoring real life, and this was real life in its purest form. Once he was full and happy, we transitioned into portraits with dad and then captured the three of them together as a family. Adrian’s pride was unmistakable, and the way they looked at their baby said everything. The session wasn’t about perfection — it was about connection, patience, and preserving these fleeting early days exactly as they were.
