How to Book an Engagement Session at the Grand Galvez Resort in Galveston, TX
Let's talk about booking. Most venues or resorts will charge you anywhere from $700 to $900 for an hour to do a photography session onsite. And if we are being real, for most clients that is out of budget when you still have to include the photographer cost. However, at Grand Galvez the fee was less than half of what other venues or resorts were charging ($250 an hour). It checked all the boxes for my clients: romantic vibe, classic setting, variety of photo ops on site, and low price point. We booked immediately! The photographer does have to be the one to reach out because there is a photography release form that is required to be signed and I personally believe that is our job to complete. When it came to scheduling, they only allow photography session Monday to Thursday. Which is preferable for most anyone because you avoid weekend traffic going to or out of Galveston. Once we booked, came the research of other photography experiences at this gorgeous resort.
I knew exactly where my client's head was at in terms of what they wanted. But how was I going to get there? One thing was clear from other sessions available online, a flash was undeniably required. The lowlight settings of the inside of the resort would have had me increasing my ISO to numbers that would have given me grainy photos. On top of that, the inside of the resort was very much speakeasy and moody. The outdoors gave me old Miami vibes. It was perfect and our session could not come fast enough!
THE COUPLE'S CHEMISTRY
Aside from this gorgeous location, another thing I could not get over was the chemistry between this couple. They moved and posed together as if they have been doing it all their life. Documenting the beginning of their marriage journey was so incredibly easy. Typically clients need help choosing their outfit, which is totally fun for me! I love coming up with vision boards for a session. However, Amaris knew what she wanted from the start. I was so honored she chose me as her photographer to tell her and her husband-to-be's timeless love.
