An Intimate Twilight Elopement Close to Home
Marlenna and Hector reached out to me about photographing their elopement taking place at a wooded, twilight venue right in their hometown of Montgomery, Texas. From the very beginning, their vision was clear: intimate, meaningful, and centered around their closest people. With the guest list limited to just 25 loved ones and only one hour of access to the venue from arrival to departure, every moment truly mattered. It was one of those days where time seems to speed up the second you arrive.
Elopements like this require intention, and Marlenna and Hector embraced that fully. Instead of feeling rushed or stressed by the tight timeline, they leaned into it—focusing on what was most important and letting the rest fall into place. The result was a wedding day that felt personal, heartfelt, and beautifully efficient without ever feeling hurried.
A Sweet Ceremony and Meaningful Moments
Their ceremony was swift and sweet, surrounded by family and friends who had gathered closely to witness their vows. There was something incredibly powerful about how intimate the space felt—no distractions, no excess, just love and connection. Every face in attendance mattered, and that energy was felt throughout the entire ceremony.
After the ceremony concluded, we moved quickly but intentionally into group photos, starting with the full guest group and then transitioning into parents-only portraits. Once everyone was dismissed, the focus shifted entirely to Marlenna and Hector. That’s when the pace slowed, and we allowed space for them to simply be together as newlyweds.
Redwick’s in the Woods spans roughly 64 acres, but as a newer venue, access was limited to the ceremony area, a nearby wooded section, and the bride and groom quarters. Even with those limitations, the scenery offered more than enough variety—natural textures, quiet forest paths, and intimate pockets of light that created a stunning backdrop for their portraits.
Golden Hour at Redwick’s in the Woods
Redwick’s in the Woods is a family-owned venue, with the owners living on the property at a respectful distance thanks to the expansive acreage. The care and thought behind the venue’s design is evident the moment you step onto the grounds. Marlenna and Hector couldn’t have chosen a better time for their elopement—4 to 5pm proved to be absolutely perfect.
As the hour drew to a close, the sun dipped lower and cast the most beautiful light directly into the ceremony space. Later, one of the owners shared that the entire area was strategically built to capture that exact moment of golden-hour glow. It showed. The light wrapped around the trees and filtered through the woods in a way that felt intentional and magical.
Even without florals or heavy décor, the venue was breathtaking. Nature did all the work. I was allowed to arrive 15 minutes early to set up, capture landscape images, and fully prepare so Marlenna and Hector could maximize every second of their time. That small window made a huge difference, allowing their portraits to feel relaxed and unrushed despite the tight schedule.
Their elopement was a perfect reminder that you don’t need a full day—or a massive production—to create something deeply beautiful. Sometimes, all you need is the right place, the right light, and a love that speaks for itself.
